Who are the guests?
We have both request and walk-in guest, who require haircuts, relaxer, natural hair services, to scalp treatments. We encourage you to build a clientele with your family, friends and return guest. We have a program to help you learn how to build a clientele and experience re-booking.
May we work on family?
Of course! Your family is welcome to come during open clinic floor hours. We’d love to meet them!
May I transfer from another school?
We welcome transfer students and we need to make sure you are in good standing, you have resolved financial commitments to your previous schools, and we have availability.
How do you prepare me for the business side of the industry?
We have an entire Professional Development course program, in which we prepare you for salon success and business and give you strategies for your career.
I struggled in height school. Will I be able to do this?
The thing we love about this industry is that it’s about creativity more than anything else. If you have specials concerns about testing, reading, etc., we can speak with our Education Leader to assist you in coming up with a plan to succeed!
What time do you open?
We are open Mon-Fri from 8:15 a.m to 3:15 p.m. then again from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.. Also every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

How will my day be structured?
The first six weeks is the core portion, you will learn the basic fundamentals of hair cutting, coloring and styling. At the end of this phase you will pass a series of evaluations at which you will be certified to work on actual clients on our clinic floor. For the duration of the program, you will spend half of the day getting experience with clients and half the day in the class. Skincare and make-up will be introduced as well as advanced techniques.
How difficult are the tests and classes?
You will need to take written test, yet we will offer you many different ways to learn the information. We teach with hands-on-training, demonstrations, visuals, and activities, as well as traditional book materials.
How much time is spent in class?
You will spend half of your day in the classroom. In the classroom, we have specialist who teach you in hair cutting, hair coloring, texture, natural hair styling, makeup, professional and financial development, and specialty classes. We also welcome guest artist from Paul Mitchell, salon owners, stylist, educators, and business leaders to enhance your learning. We make classroom learning fun and provide you with a variety of classes and a wealth of knowledge!
How long is the course?
Setting The Standard offers day and evening which will take 10 to 15 months to complete. It is a big commitment and an amazing career you will have when you are done.
What will I learn?
We offer hair cutting, hair coloring and texture courses, as well as Facials make-up and professional development. You will graduate with an incredible since of confidence, professionalism and creativity.
How long is the program?
The program is 1500 hours.
